More Tips for Creating a Gallery Wall

One of our family rules is Follow Your Happy.  I know I have said this before, but I'll say it again....gallery walls make me happy. I did a post about them with ideas last summer and I still love looking at those collections when I pass by.

Other things that make me happy...listening to the crickets outside while catching up on reruns of "Friends", chocolate chip cookies, and summer vacation.

So if creating a  gallery wall of your very own would make you happy too... here are more tips.

{1.} Every gallery wall should have some kind of theme. I use that term loosely.

·        Use all the same type of picture {family, architecture, animals}

·        If the images are all color or all black & white...mix up the colors of frames

·        If there is a mixture of black & white and color images then it looks pulled together with the same type and color of frame

·        When the frames are all the same color, but not necessarily the same shape it helps the images to stand out

·        Certainly, by all means, all the frames can be exactly the same…this is good for mixing and matching black & white with color images

{2} If you can’t find what you are looking for in frame color but love the style of frame….buy and then paint them.

For this project I took perfectly good, brand new frames… sanded, primed and then painted them....just a few Miner adjustments. They came out beautifully.

{3.} Frames should be the correct size for the wall.

Frames that are too small for a large wall takes away from the images that you are trying to showcase.

Hurts your eyes with all that squinting.

Frames that are too big will make the room seem smaller.

{4} One last thing…

Do what makes you happy. If it looks good to your eye
…then who is anyone else to judge?
